Personal Bankers of Little Rock: Cindy Spencer Hippler
September 15, 2017
Cindy Spencer Hippler isn’t exactly a newcomer to Bank of Little Rock, given that she’s been one of our personal bankers since we were founded 26 years ago. And she’s quick to point out that she’s not alone. According to Cindy, “The longevity of our employees is remarkable – many of us have been here for more than 20 years.”
Central Arkansas has always been home to Cindy, who hails from Rose City, north of the river. That’s where she attended elementary school before moving to Cloverdale with her family. She attended Cloverdale Junior High and later graduated from McClellan High School.
After graduation, she worked through some entry-level positions before landing a job in the Human Relations area of Orbit Valve Company. After gaining valuable experience there, she followed a friend into the banking world where she served as executive secretary in a Little Rock bank that began her banking career and association with Pete Maris. After six years in that position, Pete Maris asked Cindy to join him in building the team for Bank of Little Rock – where she’s been since June of 1989.
Pete and Cindy both had offices in the Bank of Little Rock’s first branch office, located at Green Mountain Drive and Rainwood – space which had previously been a bar! When the original Heights branch opened at North Pierce and R Streets, they moved there before moving to what is now the main bank downtown at the corner of Cantrell and State Street.
The importance of personal banking is clear when you realize the Bank of Little Rock grew during its first eight years without a single drive-through lane or ATM. Cindy says that fact speaks volumes about the level of personal service their customers received. “There were times that I came to a customer’s car to stay with the baby while mom went in to do her banking,” Cindy says. “Those moms are still customers and their babies are now adults!"
She’s very proud of her son, Bryan, daughter-in-law Lorie, and grandkids 15-year-old grandson Brayden, and 13-year-old granddaughter, Lawson. They are both very athletic – Brayden plays football and basketball at Bryant High School and Lawson is a cheerleader and plays volleyball at Bethel Middle School. Cindy tries to attend as many of their events as possible.
Just this year, Cindy exchanged wedding vows with Hubert Hippler and the two of them moved to Bryant so Cindy could be near her “precious grandbabies.” And very recently, Cindy was promoted to Senior Vice President in recognition of her talent and hard work over the years.
Between her immediate family, her banking family, a very active Bible study group at her church, volunteering for Arkansas Hospice, and Crappie fishing (whenever she can find a pole and some water), Cindy’s dance card stays full. And that’s the way she likes it.
If you’re a Bank of Little Rock customer, you probably already know Cindy. If not, come by the main branch to meet her. She’s ready to provide you with the personal service and care that bigger banks only wish they could offer.
