Personal Bankers of Little Rock: Charlene Beck
January 12, 2018
Charlene Beck was born and spent the first five years of her life in Beebe, Arkansas. Her parents moved the family to Little Rock, where she attended school, graduating from Central High. But like other members of her Bank of Little Rock family, she began developing a great work ethic at an early age. While at Central High, Charlene worked for Katz Drugstore.
After High School, she worked for Ottenheimer Company, a clothing manufacturer in Little Rock. Charlene worked in the accounting department where she remained as the company became Kellwood. After this, she worked in her parent’s grocery store. And then for her sister and her husband in their grocery store until they retired.
Banking didn’t enter the picture until 1996, when she was introduced to George Worthen for a job interview. She got the job and the rest is history. Charlene has worked at Bank of Little Rock for 21 years and has always loved it. She started as a teller at the Rodney Parham branch and in 1999 moved downtown to the Main Branch in the Operations Department. Her variety of duties keep the job interesting and she never stops learning.
Charlene married Paul Beck in 1975. After 30 years she was widowed. Today, her family includes 14 nieces and nephews, 23 great-nieces and great-nephews and one each great-great niece and nephew, three sisters and one brother.
Charlene divides her time between three families – her birth family, church family, and her Bank of Little Rock family – and she is active in all three, teaching Sunday school and working with children’s worship and nursery rooms at Northside Church of Christ in Benton. Her bonus time is spent on trips with her three sisters.
Nothing is too challenging for Charlene because she loves all of her responsibilities. If you are in downtown Little Rock near 200 North State Street, come in and check it out. It’s a great place to work and to bank!
