Personal Bankers of Little Rock: Beverly Florida

Ever been to Osceola?  That’s where Beverly Florida was born and raised, and she happily remembers growing up there. After graduating from Osceola High School, Beverly packed up and moved to Columbus, Mississippi where she attended Mississippi State College for Women. But after two years there, she returned to Osceola to help run her family’s Abstract Company business.

Beverly then found an interesting opportunity in her hometown -- the chance to work for the local Chamber of Commerce. She really liked the work and says it helped her form a very strong opinion about the power of great customer service. During those years, Beverly also stayed busy by participating in local theater productions, and by being active in her church.

As much as she loved working at the Osceola Chamber, Beverly wanted to broaden her horizons so, in 1979, she moved to Little Rock and worked for the Little Rock Chamber, working in an administrative role and in the new member acquisition area.

After a few years there, Beverly was hired by the Pulaski County United Way -- once again focusing on new member acquisition and in tailoring and setting up donation campaigns for member businesses.??

In the late 1980s, Beverly joined three friends and opened an antique business, located on Cantrell Road in Little Rock. Running her own business was a valuable experience but she never lost her focus on customer service.

Her banking career didn’t begin until the early 1990s, when she worked for Bank of America and Pulaski Bank, respectively. She knew immediately that her heart was in community, or neighborhood banking. And she had heard many great things about Bank of Little Rock. In 2005, she had the opportunity to join the Bank of Little Rock team and has put her experience and skills to great work. About working at the Cantrell branch, Beverly says this: “I love our Highway 10 branch because, in a small branch like this, I get to wear several hats. Plus, it’s a great place to build trust and relationships with customers.”

Outside the bank, Beverly loves gardening but she has a strong creative bent, too.  In fact, she’s been writing children’s stories as a creative outlet. She also spends time redesigning and repurposing vintage jewelry, giving beautiful old pieces new life.

Take the time to stop by our Highway 10 branch to see Beverly and, what the heck, bring your dog, if you like!
