Why Us? Leadership: Kim Markland, President / CEO

Why Us? Stability, Relationships, and Dedication

From Small-Town Teller to President & CEO: Kim Markland’s Community Banking Journey

Bank of Little Rock is built on stability, relationships, and dedication—values that define our leadership, especially our President and CEO, Kim Markland. Her story is one of hard work, deep-rooted community ties, and an unwavering commitment to banking done the right way.

A proud Curley Wolf from Prescott, Arkansas, Kim’s journey began at the teller line while she was still in college at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She fell in love with banking, knowing right away that finance was her calling. After earning her degree, she launched her career as a bank examiner with the Arkansas State Bank Department, gaining critical regulatory experience that gives her a unique perspective to this day.

Kim later transitioned to community banking, where she found her true passion—helping customers and businesses succeed. She has spent more than two decades with Bank of Little Rock, working her way through multiple leadership roles before becoming President and CEO. Her experience touches all aspects of banking, from regulatory compliance to lending, financial analysis, and operations. She understands banking from every angle—as a regulator, a small business owner’s spouse, a consumer, and a career banker.

Kim is deeply committed to Little Rock and the broader community banking industry. She serves on the Arkansas Community Bankers’ Board and the Barret School of Banking Board of Regents, where she helps shape the future of community banking. She is also a dedicated supporter of The Alzheimer’s Association-Arkansas Chapter, recently co-chairing the Walk to End Alzheimer’s alongside another BLR favorite, Ashley Cunningham.

Family is at the heart of everything Kim does. She and her husband, Quentin—a Little Rock native and small business owner—understand firsthand the challenges and rewards of running a business. Together, they’ve raised two incredible daughters, Anna and Laura, who are both pursuing careers in accounting and finance.

As a leader, Kim is passionate about keeping community banking personal. She believes that relationships still matter and that a bank should be more than just a place to hold money—it should be a trusted partner for families and businesses. At Bank of Little Rock, we’re proud to have a leader who embodies our values of Stability, Relationships, and Dedication.
